What is the Carer's Premium?

- Income-based Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)
- Housing Benefit
You can also get an additional amount on top of Pension Credit. This is called the ‘Carer Addition’.

To get the Carer's Premium added to your benefit, apply for Carer’s Allowance (CA). You may not get paid CA if you are getting other benefits like State Retirement Pension. However, you will still be better off because of the Carer’s Premium. You can read more about Carer’s Allowance and how to apply in the What is Carer’s Allowance section.
