Will I have to pay for compulsory treatment services?
People with a mental illness who are treated under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 (amended 2015); or under the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 2003 do not pay for services provided as part of a Compulsory Treatment Order or a Compulsion Order. Some local authorities try to impose a charge, but the Guidance has been amended to make it clear that this is not permitted within the regulations.
